Beard Transplantation

Beard Transplantation

Beard loss may develop in men due to genetic factors, injuries and traumas, immune system diseases and trichotillomania. Sometimes the beard does not fall out completely, the hair follicles can be thinned, in some areas it may be dense and in some areas it may grow less. Beard transplantation treatment in men is the most definitive and permanent solution to be preferred in case of beard loss.

What is Beard Transplantation?

The logic of beard transplantation is the same as hair transplantation. From the areas where the beard is dense, the hair roots are transferred to the area where shedding is experienced. The aim here is to revitalize the beards and to support the formation of new beards in areas with complete shedding. In the beard transplant operation, the donor area is usually determined as the nape of the neck to remove the hair follicles, pain and discomfort are not felt during the operation. In order for this operation to be performed, the patient must have completed the age of 20 because it is expected that the hormones have completed their development.

Beard Transplantation with Fue Method

Follicular Unit Extraction, namely FUE method, is one of the most effective and reliable methods used in both hair transplantation and beard transplantation. Advanced medical devices are used to remove hair follicles in the FUE technique. Thanks to these devices, hair roots can be transplanted into the channels without wasting time. In this way, damage to the hair follicles is prevented and high efficiency can be obtained from the operation. In the FUE method, there is also no scar in the donor area, that is, in the area where the hair follicles are taken.

How Many Roots Are Needed in Beard Transplantation?

The number of roots to be collected is determined according to the area to be planted. How much root is needed also varies from person to person. Generally speaking, 350-500 beard roots are needed for transplanting to the mustache area, 600-900 for goatee, 300-900 for each cheek area and 200-300 beard roots for sideburns.

Beard Transplantation and Recovery Process

The duration of the operation may vary according to the size of the area to be transplanted and it takes between 2-5 hours on average. The day after planting in the desired area, control procedures are carried out and care instructions are notified to the patient. 15 days after the procedure is completed, the beard begins to fall out and about 1 month after the operation, new beards appear. Shaving can be done as long as the healing process is completed in the transplanted areas. Most of the patients can continue their daily lives in the first week after the operation.
